From Swedish to Russian reign

Restaurant Walhalla is tightly connected to Suomenlinna by its atmosphere as well as through its history.

Suomenlinnas was buildt under Swedish reign beginning from the year 1748. Around the year 1800 Viapori (formed from the Swedish name Sveaborg) was the second largest town in Finland with its 4600 inhabitants.

In 1808 Viapori surrendered to the Russians and the following year saw the beginning of a 100-year Russian reign for both Finland and Viapori.
